Artist Bio

Based in Bowie, Maryland, Marshall Jaree Brown is a multimedia and digital artist whose work pays homage to his journey, and that of his ancestors. The incorporation of African patterns and symbolism are found in his work - in addition to themes of resilience, social progress and spirituality. 

Marshall holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Howard University (Wash, DC), and a Masters of Science from University of Pennsylvania (Phila, PA), having artwork featured in several group exhibitions across the country, and held in private collections. With a growing interest in the role of the artist through activism, Marshall seeks to inspire hope and foster a deeper appreciation for legacies that shape our shared human experience. 

Art allows us to dream and take normal thoughts out of focus – sometimes to ease our minds; occasionally to disrupt our souls.
